Central German Demography Initiative
Cross-border and inter-municipal cooperation - a central way for local authorities to master the demographic, fiscal and energy policy challenges in the area of economic activity.
The demographic change as the megatrend of the 21st century
is not a structural change in the conventional sense, but
affects all areas of life of the societies concerned, which
will change to an extent not yet experienced. This demographic
challenge is unique in European history. There are therefore
no ready-made and tried and tested recipes for how European
societies should react appropriately to this development.
A series of events took place for this project, in the course of
which publications of the respective research results were
published and presented.
Institutions involved:
- Network for municipal energy (VfkE), Panketal
- Institute for Applied Demography (IFAD), Berlin
- ENTREPRENEUR OF MUNICIPALITY + FORUM NEW COUNTRIES

Event 2013
Parliamentary evening on June 17th, 2013
Theme
Local meets parliament
On June 17, 2013,
VfkE organized a
parliamentary evening for the first time in cooperation with the
VKU-regional
group Berlin-Brandenburg. The aim was to anchor East German
municipal interests even more strongly at the federal level. The
focus of the event was the structural east-west differences and
their development over the past ten years. In this context, the
VfkE study »Everything is the same, everything different« met
with particular interest from the assembled officials and mandate
holders from local authorities, the federal states and the federal
government. The event was held at the headquarters of the Association
of Municipal Enterprises in Berlin's Invalidenstrasse.
